Great New Restaurants Are Calling Phoenix Home

You can find literally hundreds of restaurants in Phoenix and its surrounding areas. You could eat at a different restaurant nearly every day of the year, if you so choose. Nearly every type of food can be found and enjoyed. Let’s take a look at a few of the newest eateries to the Valley that strive to cater to your palette:

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria In The Valley

The first location outside Chicago, located in Uptowne Plaza in Phoenix on Cambelback Road, has been extremely successful for the pizzeria. Lou Malnati’s is a family-owned chain, well-known for its deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza with buttery crusts and wonderful Wisconsin mozzarella cheese that has been used by the chain for more than 40 years. Lou Malnati’s came to Phoenix last year and they offer delivery, carry-out, and catering, as well as dining in options. Their famous pizza menu includes the Malnati Chicago Classic, made with lean sausage, vipe-ripened tomatoes, extra cheese (of course!) on a butter crust. They say it’s authentic Chicago in Phoenix!  Or you could try The “Lou” – this menu choice uses a spinach mix, sliced roma tomatoes, mushrooms, and a blend of romano, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese on top of a garlic butter crust. Mama mia!  If you can save any room at all, try the mouth-watering chocolate chip pizza for dessert. New locations to serve you will be arriving soon on North 56th Street in Phoenix and one in Scottsdale so be on the watch for them.

Portillo's Hot Dogs

Whether in Tempe or Scottsdale, there’s a Portillo’s near you. Arizona is the fourth state chosen by Portillo’s to open a location. The Scottsdale location opened first, with one in Tempe following close behind. The line waiting for Portillo’s to open in Scottsdale in 2013 exceeded 500 people. Owner and founder, Dick Portillo, was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Inc. Magazine in 1994. Portillo’s got its start in 1963, known then as the “Dog House.” Besides their famous Chicago-style hot dogs, which include the best Vienna beef loaded with every kind of veggie topping you can think of, they also offer beef and sausage sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, char-broiled burgers, salads, pasta, and ribs. Plus, there’s more!  Shakes, malts, desserts, and Barnelli Exclusive items can also be found. Stop by and try something from their delicious menu. They are also serving bratwurst for breakfast during Oktoberfest, which started on September 12.

In-N-Out Burger

Fourteen In-N-Out Burger locations are available for you to choose from in Phoenix and the surrounding areas, including seven in Phoenix, two in Chandler, one each in Tempe, Scottsdale, Avondale, Mesa, and Peoria. In-N-Out Burger is built on a reputation of using the freshest ingredients in their food and also on their ability to give you “In-N-Out” service, to get you going as quickly as you need to. Menu choices include Double Double® (two 100% American beef patties with all the fixings you want on top), the 3x3® (the Triple Triple® has three 100% American beef patties with all the fixings), the 4x4® (the Quad Quad® has four 100% American beef patties with all the fixings for those hungriest of hungry appetites); grilled cheese; Protein® Style (burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf instead of a bun); and Animal® Style (includes a mustard-cooked beef patty and extra spread with grilled onions). Stop by to try one out when you’re hungry for one of the best burgers around.

Giodano’s

This deep-dish pizza restaurant is all about hand-crafting the best Chicago deep-dish pizza around. Giordano’s has a location on North 83rd Avenue in Peoria. You will be able to tell the restaurant when you get there not only by the delicious smells wafting through the air but also by its signature cursive, lower case “g” emblem. Giordano’s famous recipe for its stuffed pizza is one that has been evolving for over 200 years. It began in a small town near Torino, Italy where Mama Giordano was known for her cooking. This special recipe was once known as her “Italian Easter Pie.”  It was a double-crust, cheese-stuffed masterpiece. Two of Mama Giordano’s sons started their pizza business on Chicago’s south side in 1974 and the rest, as they say, is history. Giordano’s has received accolades for having “Chicago’s Best Pizza” by CBS Chicago, the New York Times, NBC, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, Concierge Preferred, Chicago Eater, and the Home & Garden Magazine. Stop by soon and try a taste for yourself.
