The district is very proud of its overall 93 percent high school graduation rate. Students and teachers band together in a journey to reach successful academic achievement. #PeoriaUnifiedPride

“A” Rated Schools

An “A” school, Apache Elementary is proud to announce it has reached the “A” Grade Letter Designation, along with Kachina, Lake Pleasant, Parkridge, Peoria Traditional, Sunset Heights, and Vistancia schools. What does this mean? The letter is in reference to the new A-F Accountability System, which uses a variety of academic standards to measure the success of academic growth of students at each school. These new measures were announced in September 2017 by the Arizona State Board of Education. Teachers assess how students are doing in their grade level through numerous ways, including quizzes, classwork, and teacher observation.

Excellent Growth in Mathematics

The Peoria Unified School District enjoys results from all grade levels that show a tremendous amount of improvement in the study of Mathematics. Along with this great news, the PUSD has some of the highest college-ready scores and indicators in grades 9-12. The 93 percent graduation rate is nearly 10 points higher than either the state or national averages.

Purple Power Hour

Kachina Elementary School, Home of the Cougars (Power to the Paw!), has designated Purple Power Hour to be associated with more than 30 choices of courses that are outside the core content areas. This hour focuses on exploratory programs and activities that engage students and allow them to discover new skills they may enjoy. It also promotes new ways of thinking that can help prepare students for life and perhaps to find enriching activities they can enjoy for a lifetime. Some of the courses include:

  • Contemporary Dance
  • Sign Language
  • Painting
  • Survival Skills
  • Pet Care
  • Stock Market
  • Keyboarding

There are many more courses to choose from; this is just a small representation. Peoria Unified School District brings the best teachers to its school district to offer the most academically challenging classes to provide opportunities for students to excel.
